DMV Private Prep is a focused extension of that work, built specifically for families in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area navigating private school admissions. Same philosophy, same team, same commitment to giving every family the tools and clarity they deserve.

Peter Young

Founder and CEO

Peter Young is an educator and entrepreneur based in Falls Church, Virginia. A graduate of the Harvard Graduate School of Education, Peter spent 23 years in education, first as a classroom teacher and then as an elementary and middle school principal. After watching families in his own community struggle to navigate the private school admissions process with limited tools and limited transparency, he built DMV Private Prep to give every family in the DMV a clear, structured, and affordable path forward. DMV Private Prep is a focused companion to My School List, the comprehensive college planning platform Peter founded for families navigating the college search. He is still navigating both processes alongside his own family, so this is not just his product. It is his family’s too.

John Bland

Chief Technology Officer

John Bland is a technology leader and builder with a track record of launching and scaling data-driven products at companies like Databricks, Snowflake, and Splunk. He has spent his career at the intersection of technology and go-to-market, helping organizations bring complex data platforms to life and turn them into repeatable, revenue-generating solutions. As CTO of DMV Private Prep, John is focused on building tools that democratize access to private school admissions insights using data and AI to replace guesswork with clarity. He is passionate about creating products that are not only technically sophisticated, but genuinely useful for families navigating high-stakes decisions.
