PRIVACY FIRSTTRANSPARENT, OPT-IN, REVERSIBLE

Privacy Policy

Your family's privacy is not an afterthought. It's the foundation of how we built DMV Private Prep.

Our Core Commitments

Transcript files are processed in real time and not retained. The extracted academic summary (GPA and course rigor) is stored on your profile for personalized recommendations and can be deleted anytime
Profile information is stored only when you choose to enter it, and only used for features you've enabled
Your information is never used to train AI models
Your data is never shared with third parties
You can export or delete your profile data at any time
All admissions estimates are built on verified school data, not your personal data

1. Data Collection

Account information

Your name and email. Payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card number.

Quiz preferences

Location, school type, and religious preference, stored with your account so we can personalize your school recommendations.

Student Profile (optional, full-platform feature)

Subscribers may enter detailed student and family information through the Student Profile feature, including student name, date of birth, current school, home address, and parent contact and background information. This data is used to power autofill features including the Chrome extension. All fields are optional and entered by the user, and can be viewed, edited, exported, or deleted at any time through the dashboard.

2. How We Process Transcripts

When you upload a transcript or report card, the file is transmitted securely over HTTPS to our processing server. Our AI model extracts the relevant academic information (such as GPA, course rigor, and grades) in real time to generate your personalized school list and Safety/Match/Reach categorization.

The uploaded file is never written to disk, never stored in a database, and never retained after processing is complete. Once your results are generated, the original file data is immediately discarded from memory. There is no way for us (or anyone else) to retrieve your child's transcript after the session ends.

What we do store: The extracted academic summary (GPA and course rigor signal) is saved to your user profile so you can generate personalized school recommendations without re-uploading. You can view this data on your dashboard and delete it at any time from your profile settings.

The school fit categories and recommendations we generate are based on aggregated, publicly available school data (such as published acceptance rates, enrollment statistics, and academic profiles). Your child's individual transcript data is never incorporated into our models or datasets.

3. Information Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your account information. All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security). User accounts are protected with hashed passwords, and we support secure authentication through Google OAuth.

Our infrastructure is hosted on reputable cloud providers with SOC 2 compliance. We regularly review our security practices and limit access to user data to authorized personnel only.

4. Third-Party Services

We use a limited number of third-party services to operate our platform:

  • Stripefor payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy governs how your payment information is handled.
  • Supabase for user authentication and account management. Only your email and hashed password are stored.
  • Anthropicfor transcript analysis, our Private School Advisor chatbot, and our Chrome extension's autofill field-mapping. We send only the data necessary for each task: extracted transcript text for academic analysis, profile fields for autofill mapping, and conversation context for the chatbot. Per Anthropic's policy, our data is not used to train their AI models.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties. We do not participate in data marketplaces or advertising networks.

5. Student Profile and Autofill Features

DPP subscribers may use our Student Profile feature to store detailed family and student information. This feature exists to power our autofill capabilities, including our DMV Private Prep Autofill Chrome extension.

What we store:Information you enter into your Student Profile, which may include the student's name, date of birth, gender, contact information, current school, citizenship, home address, and parent or guardian information including names, contact details, employer, occupation, and education history. All fields are optional. You decide what to enter.

How it's used:Profile data is used to autofill admissions application forms when you use our Chrome extension on supported portals such as Ravenna and Veracross. When you trigger an autofill, the extension sends the form fields it detects on the page to our server. Our server uses Anthropic's Claude AI to map your stored profile fields to the form fields, and returns the appropriate values to your browser to fill into the form.

What we never do: We do not submit applications on your behalf. You always review the filled fields and submit manually. We do not use your profile data for marketing, advertising, or profiling beyond the autofill feature. We do not share your profile data with admissions offices, schools, or any third parties.

AI processing:When you use the autofill feature, your profile data is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for the purpose of mapping fields. Per Anthropic's policy, your data is not used to train their AI models. We send only the data necessary to perform the field-mapping task.

Your rights: You can view your complete profile at any time on your DPP dashboard. You can export a JSON copy through the Export Profile feature. You can update any field at any time. You can permanently delete your profile through the Delete Profile feature, which removes all profile data while keeping your DPP account active.

6. Cookies and Analytics

We use essential cookies to maintain your login session and remember your preferences. These are strictly necessary for the platform to function and cannot be disabled.

We do not use tracking pixels, retargeting cookies, or any form of cross-site tracking.

7. Children's Privacy

DMV Private Prep is designed to be used by parents and guardians on behalf of their children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under the age of 13. Profile information entered by parents on behalf of their children is treated with the same care as any other parent-controlled data on the platform.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to remove that information from our systems.
